Are you ready for Single Touch Payroll (STP)?

The ATO will shortly be contacting small employers who have 19 or less employees and who already use payroll software to advise them that they don't need to wait for legislation to pass before they start reporting through STP.

The bill proposing to extent STP to employers with 19 or less employees from 1 July 2019 was passed by the senante, but has yet to be legislated due to some proposed amendments to other measures contained in the same bill.

Small business can expect STP to begin as expected on 1 July 2019.

If you already use a payroll package that supports STP, its a good idea to start reporting before you are actually required to, so you can avoid any hiccups.

The ATO is still in discussions with suppliers to develop low-cost STP software for employers with four or fewer employees.

If you have any queries in relation to STP or if you are unsure if your payroll software supports STP or are looking for payroll software please don't hesitate to contact us.
